A Melbourne housing estate the size of a small suburb has declared itself a gas-free zone and revealed a bright plan to help residents beat summer heatwaves.
Buyers will be obliged to install solar panels, have their roof follow colour guidelines and choose from one of five drought-resistant front yards.
YourLand Developments made the announcement about their Society 1056 estate about a month after the Victorian government banned gas connections for new homes being built from January 1 next year.
